The Director of Finance and Accounting will oversee all aspects of financial management including monthly accounting close process, financial reporting, financial operations, and budgeting/forecasting. The position requires a highly motivated self-starter who is “hands on” and accountable for all finance and accounting functions of the company including month-end, quarter/yearly closing, cash flow management, financial reporting, audits, budget preparation and other ad hoc items. This position will report to the Senior Vice President – Operations and Finance.

The position is located in Herndon, VA with an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule.

• Lead the accounting department, managing daily accounting operations, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, expense reports and reconciliation of financial data
• Project Accounting: Manage the full life cycle of government contracts from a financial perspective, including project set-up, revenue recognition, cost allocation, invoicing, and budget tracking
• Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensure data accuracy, and comply with company policies and financial regulations
• Manage relationships with external and internal auditors, coordinate audit processes, and provide accurate and timely information for annual audits
• Develop annual budgets and quarterly forecast updates
• Prepare consolidated financial presentations company leadership and key stakeholders that summarize key drivers, risks and opportunities
• Serves as bank liaison and is responsible for all bank reporting and compliance
• Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial software and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Responsible for ensuring accounting practices are compliant with US regulations and align with parent company practices
• Prepare financial models to support business planning exercises
• Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values accountability, collaboration, learning and commitment to quality

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven leader with a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive business finance/accounting experience.
• Extensive knowledge of current principles and practices associated with accounting, cost management, percentage of completion accounting, and finance systems (CPA preferred).
• Experience working in both commercial and US government contracting companies.
• Interactive and multi-faceted leader that is both strategic and tactical.
• High energy, impeccable integrity, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience driving and executing budgeting and strategic planning and rolling forecasts
• Ability and desire to effectively interface with Senior Management on all financial matters
• Deep experience with online financial systems and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with government contracting ERP systems a plus.
• Experience working in a proxy or SSA company and/or corporate subsidiary a plus.

Education and/or Experience: 

• BA/BS in accounting, finance, business or related discipline
• 10+ years of related work experience 

Clearance: Active DoD clearance or ability to obtain a secret DoD clearance.
